Hashbrown Lasagna Casserole??!

Day 15

That's right, if it's never been made before...it has now. All thanks to Brandon Wall.
Friday night, Brandon wanted to create his own recipe for dinner: Lasagna with hash browns on top. At first, I thought Brandon was crazy mixing lasagna and hash browns. But it actually tasted very good. Our first attempt was more like a trial and error. Then on Sunday, we perfected it and it tasted so much better. The thing was, we made the hash browns to taste like Cracker Barrel's hash brown casserole Mmmm...It was so tasty.

Ingredients:
For the Lasagna:
  • 2 lbs of lean ground beef
  • 2 lbs of your favorite spaghetti sauce (we used Prego Onions and Garlic)
  • 1 box of lasagna noodles (We used Walmart's Great Value brand and it didn't break into pieces like the Ronzoni one did and saved money.)
  • Italian seasoning
  • 2 lbs of shredded mozzarella cheese
For the Hasbrown Casserole:
  • 2 lbs frozen hash browns (Again...we used Great Value brand)
  • 1/2 cup margarine or 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 8 oz of sour cream
  • 1/2 of a small onion chopped
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions:
  1. Preheat your oven to 385 degrees
  2. Cook the ground beef until brown. While cooking, add Italian seasoning, salt and pepper for flavor. Drain out the oil. While the meat it still in the pan, add half of the spaghetti sauce to your meat and stir in low heat.
  3. Cook noodles according to box and drain. (We used 3/4 of the box...I'm not a big fan of noodles)
  4. In a 9x13 inch pan, spray cooking spray and add about half of the ground beef/spaghetti mixture in the pan as a bottom layer. Lay the noodles down as the second layer.
  5. Add the rest of your meat mixture on top of the noodles. Then sprinkle mozzarella cheese to cover the meat layer. Lay another set of noodles and pour the rest of your spaghetti sauce on top of the noodles
  6. For the hash brown layer: mix all the ingredients together in a separate bowl. Add your salt and pepper to your liking (use your discretion). Once the hash browns have been mixed, pour the mixture on top of the lasagna to cover to the top.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until hashbrown layer is brown
  8. Enjoy!
First attempt...it was good...but not great.
